Registration is open. Time remaining to register: 3 weeks, 2 days.
Global (Mini) Moonboard Session 2025 is an attempt to create a fun, world-wide, online-based community comp for (Mini-) Moonboarders. The main goal is to have fun with setting and sending.
Please check the sections below for all the details.
PS.: Comp starts Sat 26 Apr 2025, 00:00 UTC.
You need to have a full (Mini) Moonboard Setup within reach including all the hold sets. Unfortunately it's not possible to take part if you only have a partial setup.
Although the comp is centered about the Mini, you can also take part if you only have a "big" Moonboard stetup in reach - provided enough other participants have registered to take part on your setup. Maybe you can persuade a few friends? You should register for the comp anyways just to show you are interested to have a comp on your setup.
Note: A comp on your setup will be started if at least 10 users have registered on your setup.
In the weeks before the comp, registration starts. During the registration phase, log in with your account and fill out the registration form. If you don't register in time, you will not be able to take part in the comp.
If you don't have an account, you can now create one here.
Registration phase starts Sat 29 Mar 2025, 00:00 UTC and ends Sat 26 Apr 2025, 00:00 UTC when the setting phase begins.
Each climber will be assigned one random start and one random end hold for the comp problem they have to set.
You can add another start and end hold as you like as long as the assigned holds are also used.
This way, no participant can prepare ahead of time and we all have the same time so set a problem. ...And we might be forced to leave our comfort zone at least a little bit.
The idea is that every participant sets a (for them) "medium to hard" problem that they can send in, say 2-3 sessions or 5-15 attemps. As we hope to have participants of various levels, this should result in representative distribution of grades.
We don't want to have only "6A+" or only "impossible" problems after all and the goal is to have fun...
To create your comp problem, click here during the setting phase.
You can only start to tick problems after you have submitted your comp problem. Your comp problem submission is your entry ticket for the comp. Once you have submitted your problem, you can immediately start ticking comp problems by other users.
Setting phase starts Sat 26 Apr 2025, 00:00 UTC and ends Sun 04 May 2025, 18:00 UTC when the goal setting phase begins.
After the setting phase is over, you can set an optional personal challenge, your "GOAL". The goal is simply the number of problems you think you can send in the comp
Take a look at the cool comp problems that everyone has set. In this phase, you will propably already have flashed or sent the for you easier problems.
When you have got a good first impression of the problems, set yourself a goal - decide how many of them you think you can send till the end of the climbing phase.
You should set your goal as high as possible but not too high - if you don't reach your goal, you will loose the "goal bonus" points and receive a small penalty. Check the section on the goal bonus system below for all the details.
You can enter your GOAL here on this website (only) during the goal setting phase. After you have defined the goal, you cannot change it any more!
NOTE: If you forget to set a goal in time or just don't want to set a goal, that's fine. You just loose your chance to win the extra bonus.
Goal setting starts Sun 04 May 2025, 18:00 UTC and ends Sun 11 May 2025, 18:00 UTC.
Once the goal setting phase is over, you still have plenty time for ticking problems until the end of the comp. Make sure you reach the goal you have set yourself!
Your climbing phase starts after you have submitted your comp problem and ends Sun 25 May 2025, 18:00 UTC.
During the whole climbing phase you should tick all the comp problems you send. Make sure to submit all your ticks in time here on this website because you cannot do this any more after the climbing phase is officially over.
Please rate every problem when ticking. The rating is used to find the best rated problems later. PS: You cannot rate your own problems.
There are two ways to success:
Winners of the separate setting and climbing rankings are automatically determined Sun 25 May 2025, 18:00 UTC when the climbing phase ends.
Throughout the comp you can always check the live rankings here on this website
You can win the setting comp by setting a problem that receives the highest average rating by the other climbers - you cannot rate your own problem.
Every participants has to rate a comp problem when they tick it here on this website. Unlike in the Moonboard app, ratings go from 0 (total bs) to 10 (unbelievably good).
NOTE: If a problem is not repeated, it has no rating and cannot win the setting comp!
NOTE2: If only the setter sends the problem, it also has no rating and also cannot win the setting comp.
You can win the climbing comp by collecting as many points as possible. See the section below on the goal bonus system for all the details.
Please make sure to tick every one of your sends here on this website, otherwise we cannot determine your ranking!
NOTE: There are no extra points for flashes, steeze, grade etc. All problems and sends are created equal.
Who knows, it's all an experiment. But if there is positive feedback and stoke levels are high... Why not??
A potential follow-up comp would propably take place in ca. february 2026.
We have created a separate page with all the details here. Please check that page, it's just too much to repeate it here.
Very special thanks to the beta tester who invested their precious spare time and helping to find bugs and improve the website.
Thanks to the Instagram community for answering my various polls, thus providing vital info about what you like and what you don't like. Your countless answers inspired me to start this journey at all.
Special thanks to various members of the community for DMing your ideas and feedback and discussing details about the format.
Without the help of all of you this comp would either never have taken place.
Thanks for being awesome!
Hi. I am Axel, the developer of this page. On IG, you can find me as @rag_climbs. That's also my setter name in the app.

This site provides a simple way to view Moonboard beta and sick send videos from various sources. The Moonboard app currently only supports Instagram and many of the sick send videos on Instagram actually never show up in the app.
You can submit send video links from basically every URL on the internet.
Just some examples:
Got sick footy? Submit them here.
We are actually able to automatically collect videos from Mastodon, provided you use the exact problem header/ text the moonbard app provides for sharing. You can add text above or below and also tag the setters of course. Just like you are used to from using Instagram.
To make sure we aren't receiving unwanted spam from bots, your submissions will undergo a review process before being published. Please give us a bit time to process everything.
In rare cases we will might discard submissions, e.g. in case we find a duplicate entry, the link is broken or something else is completely off.
